Compliance with the law
I require all business partners to comply with the applicable statutory provisions.
Values & principles · Code of conduct
Working together is my goal. The collaboration with my business partners is a partnership shaped by mutual respect. This code of conduct sets out what I expect of myself and of every business partner in order to achieve that — written down, not merely claimed.
The code of conduct
These principles apply to me and to all business partners — including workers employed through agencies or other intermediaries.
The code is part of every collaboration. It supplements the terms and conditions and applies in addition to all statutory obligations — not instead of them.
I require all business partners to comply with the applicable statutory provisions.
People below the legal minimum working age of the country in question must not be employed; business partners take measures that prevent any such hiring. The minimum age must not be lower than the end of compulsory schooling — and under no circumstances below 15 years. Children and young workers are to be protected from economic exploitation and from work that is hazardous, that interferes with their education or that could endanger their health and development.
Discrimination of any kind in hiring and employment is prohibited. Any distinction, exclusion or preference on the grounds of skin colour, gender, age, political opinion, belief, origin, nationality, sexual orientation or personal characteristics is forbidden.
No forced or compulsory labour, no prison labour: only people who have made themselves available voluntarily are employed. All employees are to be treated with dignity and respect and must not be exposed to verbal, psychological, physical or sexual violence, coercion or harassment. All workers have the right to join and form associations of their choice and to bargain collectively. Working hours including overtime comply with applicable law or with industry standards — whichever rule is stricter; overtime is remunerated separately.
The wages paid correspond at least to the statutory minimum wage, the collectively agreed wage or the wage customary in the industry. Where none of these exists, the wage must be sufficient to cover the basic needs of the employees — taking individual circumstances such as secondary employment or part-time work into account.
Business partners ensure a safe and healthy working environment and take measures to prevent accidents and damage to health. This includes systems and processes that identify, avoid and respond to hazards — as well as regular, documented information and training for employees on the applicable health and safety standards.
Protecting nature and the environment is part of my business practice. Business partners comply with the applicable environmental standards and work continuously on avoiding and reducing environmental impact — including the procedures for waste management, the handling of chemicals and hazardous substances, emissions and waste water treatment. Preserving natural resources is given particular consideration.
I tolerate no form of bribery or corruption. Business partners and their employees conduct themselves in such a way that no personal dependency, obligation or influence arises — the basis is fairness and the applicable national and international standards. Where gifts are a matter of custom and courtesy, they must not give rise to binding dependencies.
On request, business partners are obliged to allow an audit of compliance with this code of conduct to be carried out at their workplaces and production sites — by me or by authorised third parties. If non-compliance is established, remedial measures are to be initiated without delay. The right to terminate the business relationship in the event of breaches remains unaffected.
Reports and complaints about breaches of this code of conduct can be submitted to me at any time — anonymously as well. Only what the reporting person believes in good faith to be true should be reported. Business partners guarantee that the reporting person faces no detrimental measures and no disciplinary action.
How I work — with evidence instead of assertions — is set out in the audit trail.
